Billion Strong today announces the launch of the Disability Power Index — a structured, global framework designed to strengthen disability leadership from within our own ecosystem.

Formally introduced in 2026 during a fireside discussion at the United Nations Office at Vienna in collaboration with the Zero Project, the Index represents a new phase in disability leadership: one grounded in accountability, accessibility, and institutional maturity.

For decades, the disability community has called upon governments and corporations to improve inclusion.

The Disability Power Index reflects a parallel commitment:

We must examine ourselves with the same seriousness.

The Index evaluates publicly documented information across five domains:

• Representation & Governance
• Accessibility & Modeling
• Policy & Narrative Influence
• Ecosystem Alignment
• Funding & Transparency

The inaugural publication — the Foundational Edition — will include the Foundational 50, a globally diverse group of institutions mapped by structural category (not ranked).

Billion Strong will be included within the Foundational 50.

If we expect leadership, we must model it.

Organizations included in the Foundational Edition will receive a 14-day window for factual clarification prior to publication. The Index will be released as a versioned, living report with transparent update policies.

This is not about comparison.
It is not about awards.
It is about strengthening our ecosystem.

The Foundational Edition will be published April 15, 2026.

We can build a stronger future — together.
