Rockville, Virginia (January 9, 2023) – Billion Strong, a Global Nonprofit Organization, is proud to announce 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status.

Billion Strong, a global nonprofit organization based in Rockville, Virginia, is excited to announce that it has received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the United States Internal Revenue Service. This major milestone will allow Billion Strong to broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to provide disability services and programs worldwide.

“Obtaining 501(c)(3) status enables Billion Strong to empower the community through connections with a greater network operating on principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility, benefiting DPOs, NGOs, governments, and people with disabilities,” said Debra Ruh, Executive Chair and Co-Founder of Billion Strong.

Billion Strong was founded in April 2021 with the goal of uniting and empowering the global community of people with disabilities to create positive change. The organization provides an environment where members of the disability community can share their experiences and ideas and work together to find innovative solutions to their challenges.

“The granting of nonprofit status to Billion Strong is a major milestone for our organization. It allows us to expand our fundraising activities and intensify our efforts in reaching our goals of making the world a more inclusive place for people with disabilities, our families, supporters and allies. Billion Strong is guided by a diverse Board of Directors and committees made up of individuals with extensive experience in the global disability arena. The organization aims to create a fully accessible platform that will allow the global disability community to connect with corporations, governments, and Disability Persons Organizations.
